Last week, BBC Radio Three Counties kindly invited me on to help their good listener understand the brand challenge for P&O Cruises and P&O ferries (a separate company as of 2000) who fired 800 employees via Zoom. Surely there would be brand misattribution and this would be a problem for the cruise liner?
Whilst there is clearly an immediate PR challenge to say the least (as few people will Google the origins of the businesses), the situation provides a huge opportunity for Cruises to proactively promote their values as well as their service.
As Winston Churchill once said, ‘never let a good crisis go to waste’.
